I’m not creating a show truck here, just a reliable daily driver. I wanted to make it simple and locating the ECU under hood made sense to me and it’s very accessible. It also gives the look, at least to me, of a factory setup and there’s plenty of room under the hood of these old pickups. Mounting on the interior would have been cool and all, but would have also created much more work.
Since I was using a stock ECU, I found mounting it with a stock mount desirable and made sense to me. I had used the 2004 S10 Blazer mount in my previous 1979 Malibu Wagon build. It’s a flat mount that works great for the OEM ECU. A GM P59 or P01 will snap right into place and stay snug and safe.
